Well, to give a quick summary of the event:
Things started off fine, I arrived at the location almost shocked that there would be a LAN. There was paper over all the windows, and it appeared to be an abandoned store front that you would never even think about what could be inside. Sure enough we get inside to a extremely clean, and nice place, with a futon and pappasan chair, clearly the location was recently refurbished on the inside, and was kept well. The environment gave off kind of a relaxed place, with all kinds of kooky stuff all over the place, like pay per minute internet machines, a pinball machine (w/ spare parts), and a back room just full of random stuff. There was room for about 15 and if cleaned about 20. We soon found out there was 20/5 FiOS internet which made the LAN that much more fun since we could play online and download crap off the internet without lag.
Also, both walls were white so we were able to use a projector 100" right onto the wall. We plugged the Xbox 360 into my 22" while awaiting delivery of the projector, and I invited some people from school (who have never been to a LAN before) to come down. Sure enough they arrived, and a few other people, Noisez, Majestic, Zack (of course), Paulie D, Avatar, came down with computers. Since this LAN was our first LAN we figured we would use it more as a test LAN. We ended up just having a lot of fun, we got 3 pizzas, some garlic knots, and some soda and we all just sat around, played games on the xbox, and the computers.
Micro Center came down and sponsored us with a power supply, flash keys, and lights, and there guy Matt brought along his Guitar Hero (now I am addicted). We had a good time with that, and had the 360 hooked up to a 100" projector by then, which made the atmosphere even more appealing and fun.
Soon the xbox players who were unaware that the LAN was all night left to go home (future LANs being prepared plan on staying the night), and we were down the 6 PC gamers around 1am. We got tired and decided to break down the LAN by 3:30am. Much as though it ended early, it felt more like a party and we all had a good time, even though the gaming was very relaxed.
Zack came through with tables and chairs that were of great quality, and of course the awesome location. The network was all GiGE and supported by that awesome FiOS connection. In the end, we had a great time, and now we have some Xbox 360 players that are looking forward to attending another LAN Party.
We are looking at a date in August for our next LAN so keep checking laundrolan.com for updates. Pictures will hopefully be up sometime this week.
Special Thanks to Gregg (Majestic) for his projector and help setting up.
