Half-Life 2 Demo Released
12/20/2004 11:11 PST | Half-Life 2 | by Pratt
Huge and unexpected news this afternoon from Jess Cliffe:
A free demo of Half-Life 2 will be released later today. Featuring some of the amazing digital actors and physical gameplay that has made Half-Life 2 the leading contender for Game of the Year 2004, the demo takes players through some of the early levels of the game and later transports them to the area of the game known as Ravenholm. The demo can be found at FilePlanet, and requires a Steam account to install.
Update: The demo is now available! It is featured on FilePlanet's Half-Life 2 section, grab it right here! (

Kiddies and people who never played Half-Life 2. College students who's new Xmas PC now has the ability to do it but need reminding. It's a marketing thing. It also makes more people sign up for steam than exist now.
As you see below, I've been racking up some hours in HL2 this week.

Its 5 am no I'm not going to work.. So far I'm past the lighthouse and the ants are my buddys. We are taking what looks like a prison.. I have no clue how far along I am..
Sleep...
I haven't stade up this late in years.. ugh..
Oh and the hoverboat was most fun so far.

As to the hoverboard...
I don't get car or sea sick but the hoverboard made me queazy. Thought I was going to hurl after a bit... Had to stop, put it down and rest a bit.. Then went back and finished it.. I had almost gotten to the end before it made me nauseous.
The prison is Nova Prosepect. A fun little romp, once you get the new bugs on your side... Let your hexapods do your killing for a bit...
(now that I think about it, do the bugs have 4 or 6 feet/hands?)
Have to try the game to see .. just need to pick highway 17 again.
It's funny that most of us work just off of it...
Just like Nova Prospect is just off Highway 17, right?

Yes Nova Prospect is fun.. I am enjoying my little army of ants.. And they are so cute too...
Though the gattling guns are some what tedious...
And even on hard the the bad guys are somewhat "slow" to respond.?.?
It seems the AI stops and thinks about what to do and then either attacks shoots or hides. Though I am glad that when either the ants or an NPC is in your way they get out of your way alot quicker than in HL 1

One use I found for the bug bait is that when you throw it at a combine solder, it stuns him.
