Steam Backup Question

Post by NILL »

I did a fresh install of Win7 on a new hard drive, but before I did I made a backup of all my games. Unfortunately the backup didn't work. It only installed a few games and wouldn't finish.

Can I drag and drop the game files from the old hard drive on to the new one?

Yes.

Step 1. Install Steam
Setp 2. Copy files from old install on top of fresh install.

Also, if you are looking for other save game data, it is sometimes in C:\Users\[userid]\AppData.

Registry entrees should be taken care of the first time you launch the game. Just like the C++ RT thing.
