So, after watching Capt. America tonight, we hung out a bit and there was a little discussion about NAS boxes. I mentioned some vids from Rev3, DIY Tryin'. Here are the vids.

Re: Home NAS
FYI,
The WD MyCloud product has s**t the bed in regard to remote access, latest Java update trashed it. I can still use the android and iApple apps and I can access remotely, but PC based access remotely is failing.

Bleh, Signatures mean nothing to me!
Re: Home NAS
I don't have a NAS, but I have a multi-terabyte RAID 0 array. I use this port multiplier made by Addonics. I pretty much only use it with one computer while I'm at home and I leave it powered off ninety nine percent of the time to save power and keep the drives in good health. The drives sit in a homemade case with excessive cooling, which also helps the drives health.
If I wanted to make it a NAS, I could just add this NAS to the outside or internalize it with this one.

Re: Home NAS
what type of setup can I run with external hard drives connected via usb. I was thinking about putting a few drives in a case and I want to know how to go about doing that.
Re: Home NAS
The one I linked to will to that. It has connections for eSATA and USB 2.0.bmeister1 wrote:what type of setup can I run with external hard drives connected via usb. I was thinking about putting a few drives in a case and I want to know how to go about doing that.
