New toy
Bleh, Signatures mean nothing to me!
Re: New toy
Wait is that an HDMI capture card? I think that can only record stuff that doesn't have copy restriction on it. I was wondering how you could capture analog but it seems to have cables that run to a connector.
Looks cool. What are you going to be using it for?

Re: New toy
Honestly I use it to pump the Fios DVR Cable box connection to my desktop, it works great. There are some "hacks" I have to look in to, that will allow me to get around it, but they seemed sketchy. I have read if I want to I can record via the RGB RW cable and I won't have an issue but just not at 1080, its like 720. But for live TV on the desktop its great.

So Digger how did this card work out for you? I'd be interested if you could record TV shows off the cable box. I've lost a few seasons of Fringe because of a hard drive failure.

The card it self works great, it is pretty solid security wise. So as a DVR it is not an option, as soon as you try to record anything off the cable box it stops you. There are some hacks, but they are really thin. This card is really meant for capturing and dubbing of non copyrighted material. I captured a lot of old VCR, Hi-8, and, even off my JVC digital camcorder, and the quality and speed was impressive.
