How well does old computer equipment hold its value? (Ram)

Post by Tipperzack »

I'm not trying to sell this item to guys but just looking to get a discussion
As I have some Crucial 2x2GB= 4GB DDR2 800 CL4 Ballistix High Performance RAM BL2KIT25664AA80A and put it up on ebay to sell
It was sitting in broom closet for 2-3 years, so I thought it had no value
But since it was sealed I thought it might go up $5
During the first day on auction it went up $45

So does computer hardware never really hit $0.00 value?
Or just rare or unusually stuff keeps its value

Here is the link

Good question. My theory is that people are holding on to older computers and there fore parts are getting harder to find and the price increases. Also seeing more and more people selling used computer parts for a higher price then what it cost them new.
