FortressITX / DedicatedNOW is looking to increase our NOS (Nerds on Site) count. We are currently looking for a Technical Support Engineer to add to our staff. The position is on-site at our Clifton, NJ Facility. Applicant would primarily be responsible for providing support to customers via phone and email as well as building and deploying new servers for orders. Salaries are negotiable based on experience. The shifts are 12 hours a day with 3 days on, 2 days off and 2 days on, 3 days off.

Requirements:
• Ability to research solutions to problems on his or her own using common support channels (Google, mailing lists, forums, etc.)
• In-depth experience with Linux (Redhat and Debian variants) and FreeBSD
• Expert experience: Apache (1.x, 2.x) / PHP (4.x, 5.x) / MySQL (4.x, 5.x) / Bind / Exim
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting a large range of hardware
• Core understanding of how the Internet and networks operate
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds to a height of 6 feet
• Must be a self-motivated “hands on” type of person that is able to multi-task
• Must play nicely with others, work solo, and manage his or her own time
• Phone and Email customer support experience
• Strong foundation in English grammar and business writing
Encouraged but not required:
• BASH, Perl, or Python shell scripting
• cPanel/WHM and Plesk support experience ( System / OS level )
• PHP / MySQL web development
• Virtualization using Xen, VMWare ESX, Parallels Virtuozzo
