NJLP OUTDOOR LAN Party Bash.

Post by Majestic »

I realize the outdoor LAN idea is a dead topic but I still have some ideas I want to kick around about it. Just in case we have another opportunity.

I think an outdoor LAN would be a great idea. I've read all the concerns people have and I think they can all be dealt with easily. Like any other party, you'd have to try for a good day of weather for a outdoor LAN. If there are thunderstorms forecast you'd just reschedule. I don't see temperature as a problem unless it gets over 90 degrees. How likely is that? 90 degrees at night? Don't think so. Mosquito's? Jeez Use a spray with some DEET. Small showers would be a problem. We could get a few of these.

35 bucks. I'd buy one and throw it up in my backyard when I'm done. Even has mosquito netting. Small price to pay for a cool party. (I'd probably spend more money on beer!)

So maybe we plan on 32 people in the garage. But if conditions are good on that day we make it a outdoor LAN. Think of it like a BBQ that we happen to bring a bunch of computers to. I went to the Camp LAN Murdock mentioned and I had a blast. After playing a lot of basement/hotel/firehouse LANs it's good to mix it up. Get out of the dark rooms we've all been playing in and change the environment.

What do you think.

They had STEAM and internet set up through a satellite through about 300 feet of fiber running to a nearby house. They had BBQ, junk food, and even a deep fat fryer.

The sites been down for a while. I was waiting for them to do another event. Just goes to show you only really need a cement slab and some power to run a LANparty. I've never seen most of the people there before or after. Most of them were Counterstrike people.

That does look like fun, It seems to be not to harsh with space heaters. Any clue where that was held and are their bathrooms in the house/cabin, latrines, or pick a tree?

How about a carving station?

I have to say laning under the stars would be awesome.

What better way to see the glow of your PC under the night sky, its kinda poetic.

It would turn some heads and if there was a huge projection of the NJLPs logo panning across diggers house, that would be so cool, huge advertisment ability.

As far as rain well we come up with a rain proffing concept for your PC and Patent IT. We would have a new slogen "Nor Sleet nor Snow Nor Hail Nor RAIN will force this lan gamer away by the heat of battle, by the warmth of thy machine will keep thy spirits high"

I tould you it was poetic.
