Laggy server

We have been doing a lot of talking about BF lately, so I figured I would put it all in one place.

Laggy server

Post by Murdock »

Here is the response I got from our host about the Laggy server.
8:50:32 PM:
Server seems laggy all the time.
The guys in my clan are reporting bad lag with the server. It seems to be all the time. Can someone look into it.

Thanks,
Murdock

RE:Server seems laggy all the time.
Is is important to work together on this and to report the problem when it is at it's peak.
We need a few question answered to help you.

1. How many people are on the server currently?

2. How often do you see it lagging. Is it all the time or only at certin times or playerlimits?

3. How many people in the server at the time of the issue. Some, Half, Most, or All?

4. What is the ping doing. Is it running stable, spiking, high for some, most, or all?

5. Is there a certin map or config that is seems to lag more on the others?

6. Do you have trace route that you have run to help us see if there is something going on over the network hops?

It is also important to note any changes you have made to server files ether config changes or new files as this is the number one cause of lag and most people dont know that. I am sure you can understand why.

I want thank you in advance for taking the time to answer these questions. These are design for us to more effectively correct lag related problems.

A couple of questions in regards to our server.
When is it going to expire? Is anyone interested in renewing?

It expires 1/4/07.

I feel horrible asking you guys to chip in for the serer that we don't use in the first place. I can't ask you to renew. I think what we should do is try and find another group like Gamershaven and offer to chip in and support their server. The only issue there is we have to find a group that is still playing BF2 and didn't move on to 2142.

I have to say, I wish we could use our server as it has been increasingly hard to find a server with rules that we like...exactly the reason we rented this server for.
